Mezzanine

Also commonly referred to as a half-floor or partial attic, a mezzanine is a space that stretches across the upper part of the building, but does not constitute a full attic or floor. It most often comes about from floor decking, for example above a terrace or spaces separated inside the ground-floor area of the cabin.

Due to its location directly under the roof slope, mezzanines are usually low and do not allow comfortable movement while standing. They work well as a loft, and in certain cases also as a bedroom or play area for children. The mezzanine can optionally be enlarged by turning it into a full attic, or equipped with knee wall providing additional headroom and the possibility of placing low furniture.
