What sets Drewnolandia apart from the competition is our free service of constructing a point foundation using concrete blocks, provided there is no other type of prepared hard ground at the installation site. Still, many people want to prepare a similar foundation on their own. How to do it correctly?
All you need is a shovel and good intentions
The basic principle is very simple. The blocks should be arranged within the outline of the requested structure and under its entire footprint at one-meter intervals. If there are any doubts, it’s worth consulting with us. We will provide a schematic technical drawing showing the proper spacing of the blocks. Of course, the blocks mainly serve as a stable base for the cabin, but their job also includes leveling the existing ground. For this reason, the blocks should be laid in such a way that together they create an ideal level. It’s possible that some will need to be dug slightly into the ground, while others can be stacked on top of each other.
Keep it level!
When leveling the foundation, it’s worth using tools designed for this purpose, e.g., a water level, commonly called a szlauchwaga. Because of its short length, measurements made with a classic level available at any DIY shop are prone to error. In this case it is worth using a “mason’s ruler”—a suitably long board to which the level will be applied, or better yet, a professional tool of this type, sold under that exact name. Classic solutions such as strings that mark the established level are also invaluable. How the final foundation should look is best illustrated by the example prepared by Mr. Marcin from Ostrówek.
