Every year, many people choose to rent a holiday cabin. Spending a vacation this way is popular – after all, it lets you relax and escape the tiring hustle and bustle of the city. That's why some owners of this type of structure are thinking about renting them out during the summer season. So if you own a holiday cabin and are looking for information on this subject, you've come to the right place. Today we'll look at where to start when renting out holiday cabins.
How to rent out a holiday cabin – step by step
Where to start when renting out holiday cabins? First of all, the whole undertaking requires proper planning. You need to choose a suitable plot of land on which the holiday cabins will stand.
It is also important to determine the desired floor area of the cabins. It's worth knowing that holiday cabins with a floor area of up to 70 m² can be built without a design project or a building permit. In such a case, all you need is to notify the authorities of the construction, which is processed within 21 days. This is a simplification of procedures that makes building a holiday cabin easier. However, remember that a holiday cabin cannot have more than one storey. Still, nothing prevents it from being fitted with a mezzanine, which is not treated as a separate floor.
Renting out holiday cabins – income received
According to the Director of the National Tax Information (Krajowa Informacja Skarbowa), when an owner rents out a holiday cabin occasionally, they are not required to keep records of income. Seasonal rental of holiday cabins that is not the main source of income does not require running a business.
In addition, if the owner's income does not exceed PLN 100 thousand, they can expect it to be taxed with a flat-rate income tax of 8.5%. However, once the PLN 100 thousand threshold is exceeded, the tax rises to 12.5%.
