When buying a house or apartment, more and more often we decide to use the services of an interior designer. We want our four walls to be beautiful, functional, thoughtfully laid out, and stylish. For the same reasons, we should consider having a professional garden design prepared by a specialist.

Don’t forget about your gardens

People began leading a settled life as far back as the Stone Age. Settling on pristine land, humans started shaping their surroundings according to their needs – the first gardens were used for growing plants, these places were more utilitarian than beautiful. Later, the art of gardening developed. We know from history the magnificent gardens of ancient civilizations. Gardens in Egypt, Chinese gardens and the later popular Japanese gardens, the much later Babylonian Hanging Gardens of Semiramis, and finally the biblical cradle of humanity – Eden, the Garden of Paradise from which Adam and Eve were banished.

Since the Neolithic, one thing hasn’t changed – people want, need, and enjoy influencing the landscape around them. And this is where professional garden design comes to our aid – known since ancient times, it continues to function in a modern form today. It’s worth placing your trust in the experts! If we overestimate our own abilities and decide to design the garden ourselves, it may bring more problems than benefits.

Garden designer? Nonsense! I’ll plant the shrubs myself

Well, not nonsense after all. First, garden designers are specialists who know their craft well, preparing our garden not only to look good but also to function well. A garden designer will select appropriate plant species, taking into account light and soil conditions. Not all plants can be placed next to each other just as we like. Some may bear poisonous fruits (for example the beautifully blooming coralberry), which is especially important if we have children or pets. In such a case a moment of inattention can lead to tragedy.

Another reason to trust professionals is that garden designers can work with plant nurseries, gaining access to a wider variety of species. This allows them to purchase higher-quality seedlings than those found in popular hardware stores, and they can negotiate favorable bulk discounts. A specialist, preparing our garden project, will also advise on proper care for individual species. They’ll answer questions about when and how to prune shrubs, what to do after flowering, and how to protect the garden in winter. The garden designer will also consider how plants will look in a few years or in autumn and create a design that won’t require moving shrubs every few seasons.

A beautiful garden is a harmonious garden

Designing a garden with an expert also saves a lot of time – after all, we hand over coordination of works to specialists who will ensure everything runs smoothly according to the approved project. If we choose to design the garden ourselves, we can waste time, money, and, above all, nerves.

Garden projects are conceived so that the final effect is in harmony with the surrounding space. If the property has a holiday cabin or a garden pavilion in a given style (rustic, modern, English, or minimalist), the garden should reflect that look. Otherwise it won’t look very esthetic. The garden designer will ensure the whole surroundings stay in perfect harmony.

So don’t be afraid to entrust the space around your home to designers who will take care of your surroundings professionally. A qualified specialist will craft our garden in such a way that even the house-side works become a daily pleasure.
